Why Should You Automate Workflows?

Evaluation

RPA is great for automating processes which that are repetitive and completed regularly.

To evaluate if the task is worth automating, please use the below calculator

When calculating time to complete a task, consider the entire end to end process, opening programs, printing documents, scanning, transferring data, manual filing etc

How to measure intangible benefits?

Implementing RPA delivers huge benefits to your employees, your customers, and your business. But it’s nice to have confirmation in solid numbers.  We need to determine upfront how we measure improvements and have a baseline to gauge performance.

To measure efficiency, for example, we assess how many employees it takes to finish a targeted task or how many invoices can be processed by your account receivables team in a week and get a quantifiable productivity number.

When a task is automated, staff will have additional time to focus on higher value tasks, but how do we measure the benefit of that?

We look at what is the most valuable use of their time and what should they be investing that free time in.

Or we may look at the number of new customers you acquire during that same period and the total revenue they bring in. Or perhaps the financial value of new partnerships you’ve signed.

For customer experience, you could use churn as a proxy for whether you’re getting better—lower churn, greater quantifiable benefit. For quality, you could add up the number of errors and what it cost to fix them in terms of people time and infrastructure cost. You could even find a proxy for the fact that your reputation improves in the marketplace as the result of producing higher-quality goods or services.

Then, measure again after your RPA bots are deployed.

We can use whatever metrics make sense, given your business.

Given the initial baseline of productivity and efficiency, employee happiness is the first important step.
